A few words to define the project: « Old-world charm combined with new-world quality. »
The restoration project at 8 Avenue de la Résistance required a great deal of careful thought before we could recondition the dilapidated apartments which had been abandoned decades before. After months of preparation, work began in May 2014 and finished 15 months later.
We altered the layout of the hallways on every floor so as to maximise the space available in each apartment to make them more comfortable. We installed an exterior glass lift for improved access, renovated the main entrance hall and brought in all of the modern elements associated with new programmes while still preserving the building’s traditional charm.
Particular care was taken to preserve the main parts of the building – the street-facing facade, the entrance hall and the interior staircase.
After 5 months of meticulous work, each and every brick on the street-facing facade had been individually reconditioned, as had the cornices, window frames, shutters and railings.
The same level of care was taken with the renovation of the apartments – all of the walls are now insulated, the kitchens and bathrooms are fully-equipped, the door frames have been replaced, hardwood flooring has been laid and the bathrooms have been tiled right up to the ceilings.
8 Avenue de la Résistance is now finished and ready to welcome its new occupants.
